I bought a sewing machine. I bought it to make constructing sock creatures faster. I bought it because it takes a lot of hand-stitches to make a closet monster. I bought it because I was ready for one. And, people were buying the creatures. Friends on Facebook saw them and wanted them.

I’m still at it with the sock creatures and have even graduated to closet monsters, thanks to my trusty new sewing machine. I sold seven sock creatures on Facebook, so I opened an Etsy shop.

From the closet monsters, which were fairly complex, I branched out to my own not-so-complex creatures and monsters.
Then, on March 5, I made my first doll, and she was very peculiar. So were the others that followed.

And, so, I spent the next two months making peculiar dolls for my Etsy shop: Fred’s Crafty Creatures. That is, until I ran out of room to house them and a new obsession took over, making flat things that can go on walls, much easier to store and display, being two-dimensional (for the most part).
