Seven years ago, I wrote about the Megan dress and then…well, even I don’t know what happened. I do know that my three rather elderly cats started getting sick, and I think work (copyediting) picked up around the same time, leaving me much less leisure time than I had previously been enjoying.

Here are a couple of things I did make.

And at some point, I finished this wall quilt of creepy doll heads.

After about a year, I came out of whatever pit I was in, but the hobby knob had already been switched back to photography. First, the craft room became the cat room, which became the photo studio, which became the gym, which ended as the office. Then we moved into a slightly less old house, where the extra room was outfitted as an office for my new-ish (at the time) full-time job from which I had recently been sent home to work (again), this time because of covid.

After covid, other sucky things happened, and I made a bunch of scrapbooks to cope.

And after that, I became obsessed with playing Hogwarts Legacy, where I at least had a magical loom for weaving.

Emerging from the video game phase, I spent a few months making a bad podcast, after which I seem to have taken up shopping as a hobby. I had major surgery, got a new pair of glasses, then minor surgery a few months later, shopping all the while.

That’s when a miracle happened: I started reading again for the first time in years, bringing us full circle, back to women and whorls and weaving.

Hopefully, there will soon be more to come. A spindle and a niddy noddy are in the mail.
