In July, I became aware that a really awesome not only fiber arts but weaving conference (Convergence) was coming to New Orleans. Within tantalizing reach! Or so I thought. I was so excited! Fiber arts and weaving coming here. And then I read the cost of membership and registration. Nope.
Then I bought some yarn at The Artists Loft Market here in town. I was given two complimentary day passes to the marketplace and art exhibits, so my husband and I started thinking about taking a day off work to go, since the marketplace hours were 10-5. And then, the conference website announced that Friday, the marketplace would have a free-admission Twilight Madness hour from 7 to 9. Well, hey, no excuses now.

I had seen a post by The LayZee Farmer on Facebook saying she would be there. I contacted her and asked if she had any fleeces. Yes!
There was so much yarn in that room, but I had tunnel vision when we showed up at the Sheraton Friday evening. She did have fleeces! Actual choice! Low VM, like, for real! So, I bought 2 lbs of Lisa’s Romney lamb fleece, doing my best to control myself.

I did other stuff on Saturday I’ll post about later. I sat down to write this post Sunday morning and, in that process, realized that I had to have the rest of the fleece if it was still there. I contacted the vendor again, and we drove back to New Orleans. I broke out the day pass while my husband circled the block, and I bought the rest of the fleece, for a total of 5 lbs of Romney long wool.

Two trips to New Orleans in one weekend, and no regrets.
